The phones hardly rang yesterday at work. But I had plenty to do. I spent the day with my nose in a spreadsheet, making corrections, adding information, filtering, sorting, and printing. It was good to be able to focus on a task without interruptions. The spreadsheet contains infomation regarding testing sites. It's important that it be accurate because the folks from Dallas use it to identify testing sites to visit, and they become unhappy if they show up, and there is no test. Go figure.
Our AMR (manager for recruiting) got a great gift from a friend this week. He brought her a piece of the artificial turf from the Superdome, which was cut out following the championship game with Minnesota. It even has the outline of Brett Farve's face on it. Well, maybe that's a little hyperbole. It seems that they pull up the turf after games to clean it, and her friend works for the company that does that. Who would have thought that the turf is taken up to be cleaned? Anyway, pieces of the turf are being cut up for sale, and he was able to get a piece and take to her. It's a part of the black fleur-de-lei painted on the field. I ran my hand over it, and little bits and pieces of stuff fell out. I guess players track dirt in from their shoes. I wonder whose DNA is on that turf? But what a great gift!
When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, "I used everything you gave me." ~~Erma Bombeck
