Work has become a combination of a sprint and a marathon. It's full out, non-stop, from start to finish. Yesterday was the first time we had a few moments without the phones ringing since sometime last week. We have been scheduling about 300 people a day to take the census employment test. A huge media blitz is coming soon, so we will continue to get slammed. The only consolation is that it can't get any worse. We're operating at full capacity now. We went from ultra-slow (although I could always find something to do) to slammin'. Quite a difference.
I am developing a new philosophy for managing working and keeping house. I used to defer housework to the weekends, then procrastinated, and didn't do much of anything on the weekends because I had housework to do first (but didn't do.) Okay, so here's my new philosphy. I do something every night so that I can get most of it done during the week, and then I have my weekends free to enjoy. Let's see, it took me 58 years to figure that one out. Who said you can't teach an old dog new tricks?
Speaking of old dogs, I had a caller who wanted a job sitting with old people. When I relayed the story, Clarence asked me if I had given her my number~! There's got to be payback for that one.
Speaking of annoyances, there's a guy in the office whose telephone ring is loud and very annoying. I'm going to talk to the LCOM to see if he's willing to let me change the ringtone. We'll see if we can add a little spice to the office. I figure I have about a 50-50 chance.
Well, it's getting on to six o'clock. Time to sign off and get some breakfast, but here's one more thing. I realize that I can remember whether or not I've taken my medication. In the past, there have been times when I couldn't remember, and I'd have to look at the calendar, figure out how many pills I should have left, and then count them. Sometimes I had taken my meds; sometimes I hadn't. Now, though, I can remember. Isn't that interesting?
